Family Doctors/Nurse Midwives
Certified Lactation Specialists/ Registered Nurse
Our Certified Lactation Specialists can come to your home and do a postpartum check for you and your baby. They will focus on helping with breastfeeding and give expert advice in the comfort of your home.
CenteringPregnancy® is a prenatal care program that includes your regular health check-up with additional time for learning and sharing with a small group of women that are of similar stages of pregnancy.
Groups start after the first trimester. You meet with your doctor and other women who are due near the same time for 10 sessions throughout your pregnancy. Each session includes interactive learning that will let you experience your pregnancy in a new and rewarding way.
These sessions will focus on a variety of topics like breastfeeding, childbirth preparation, contraception, nutrition, healthy habits, family dynamics, domestic violence, postpartum and newborn care.
The groups are mostly led by the participants, so women get to learn from each other as much as they do from the providers and support staff.
Each group visit last about 2 hours, scheduling in advance makes planning for work and childcare easier.
Information on insurance and getting enrolled as a patient at the Women's Clinic
If you are pregnant, you do NOT need to sign up as a patient with the health center first. You can call the Women’s Clinic directly and they will help you schedule an appointment and get signed up.
Virginia Garcia will also assist you in OHP enrollment as well as selecting a primary care doctor.
If you are not pregnant you must first enroll with Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center before you can be seen at the Women’s Clinic. You can do this by calling our member services department. They will help you select a clinic, and a provider, that meet your specific needs.
If you have not signed up for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), member services will help you do this as well. You do not have to wait to qualify for OHP to sign up at Virginia Garcia.
Once you have signed up with Virginia Garcia, you can schedule your annual exam at the Women’s Clinic.
If you are already a patient of Virginia Garcia you may have your annual women’s checkup at the Women’s Clinic. Simply ask our scheduling assistant to make your next appointment at the clinic.
