Meet Migrant Outreach Camp Volunteer Ricardo Mendoza. As the son of migrant workers, Ricardo was immediately drawn to helping out at our annual summer mobile health program, which visits several farmworker camps and nurseries in Washington and Yamhill Counties.
“What I enjoy about volunteering is the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and take part in activities that I don’t face in my daily life. I enjoy the opportunity to help translate at Camp and getting to listen to the interesting stories about the journey that brought these individuals to where they are now.”
Ricardo currently works at OHSU as a Clinical Research Assistant for the Heart Failure/Transplant team. He plans to attend medical school and eventually return to Eastern Oregon to practice medicine. In his free time, he loves hiking and being outdoors in our beautiful Willamette Valley region.
Thank you, Ricardo, and all of the volunteers who help out at the Migrant Outreach Camps and Nurseries.
