If you have recently received a COVID-19 test at one of our Virginia Garcia clinics we will contact you with the results as soon as they are available. It may take up to 5 business days to receive your results. In order to receive your results as quickly as possible, we recommend you sign up for MyChart today. If you have questions while you are waiting for your results, or don't hear from someone within 5 business days, you can call our COVID line at 503-214-1668 and leave a message.
Below is guidance on what you should do while you wait for your results. It is critical that you follow these instructions in order to stop the spread of the virus. Until you receive your results, it is best to assume you are positive and quarantine away from others as much as possible.

If you have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, regardless of whether you have symptoms, you should remain at home and away from others while you wait for your COVID-19 test results. To get your results as soon as they are available, use MyChart. Virginia Garcia staff will attempt to contact you within 2-5 business days of your results being available.
If you receive a negative result you may resume activities (but continue to wear a mask in public settings).
If you receive a positive result quarantine for 5 days, then remain masked at all times for 5 more days (10 days total).
If you have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, and you do not have any symptoms, you do not have to remain at home. You should continue to wear a mask in public settings and observe social distancing.
If you begin to experience symptoms you should begin home quarantine for 5 days, and follow the positive result guidelines for an unvaccinated individual.

• Stay away from others for at least 5 days and remain masked at all times.
• Isolate until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications AND you begin to feel better (symptoms are going away) AND it has been at least 5 days since you started to have symptoms.
• Stay away from others for at least 5 days since you were tested, and remain masked at all times.

Staying away from others during the time indicated above will ensure you do not spread the virus. It is very important that you follow the steps above.
• Wear a mask AT ALL TIMES. If you live with others, you must wear a mask while around them as well.
• Try to have anyone living with you tested for the virus; if household members are unable to get tested, they should assume they are positive, and follow the same isolation guidelines.
• Let your healthcare provider know of your diagnosis so they can advise care.
Try to remember who you may have been in close contact with from two days before your symptoms began until now. It will be important to notify anyone you believe may have been exposed so they can begin home quarantine and get tested as well.
Knowledge is power. If you hear something that doesn't sound right, fact check it. There are plenty of resources available that can help you determine what is truth and what is fiction.
