Virginia Garcia’s Outreach Team provides services across Washington and Yamhill Counties focused on promoting access to education and resources for patients. The Outreach Team hosts and attends Health Fairs, leads wellness activities and classes, and connects patients to resources beyond the scope of health care.

Padres con Iniciativa / Parents with Initiative
Virginia Garcia offers a parenting education program to empower parents with the skills to raise healthy children. This program is called Padres con Iniciativa or Parents with Initiative (PCI). Now in its 32nd year, PCI has helped to transform the lives of thousands of children.
PCI uses an evidence-based curriculum and one-on-one coaching to strengthen parenting skills. The program educates parents on the stages of childhood development, positive and age-appropriate discipline skills, health, wellness, and safety. The curriculum is provided in Spanish and English at the Virginia Garcia Cornelius Wellness Center and the materials provided to parents are designed using best-practice, evidenced-based, and culturally-responsive principles. Virginia Garcia offers assistance with transportation to the classes for parents who require it.

Migrant Camp Program
Through the Migrant Camp Outreach Program, the Virginia Garcia Outreach Team provides medical treatment and health education to migrant and seasonal farmworkers living and working in local migrant labor camps.
From May through August, Virginia Garcia sends a team of providers, nurses, and health educators to the camps to provide on-site treatment and education. Health Educators provide education about sexually transmitted diseases, pesticide exposure, and prevention of work-related injuries.
