Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center Opening First Wellness Center in Beaverton
with Ribbon Cutting and CAREnival
[/fusion_title][fusion_text]
Preventive health care is the way of the future, and Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center will celebrate the opening of its first Wellness Center in Beaverton with a ribbon cutting August 10, 2018 and a community
CAREnival August 11, 2018.
The Beaverton Wellness Center offers one-stop for kids, families and individuals needing medical, dental,
pharmacy, mental/behavioral health services as well as fitness classes, diabetes education classes, healthy
cooking classes, kids summer activities and more – all under one roof. It is the first of its kind in Beaverton.
Virginia Garcia began serving patients in the new Beaverton Wellness Center on July 23, 2018, offering
primary care, pediatric care, pharmacy and mental health care. The integrated dental clinic will begin serving
patients on August 8, 2018. At 36,000 square feet, the Center is three times the size of the former Beaverton
Clinic (located across the street) where most of the storage rooms had been converted into exam rooms to
accommodate the growing patient numbers. Over the next five years, Virginia Garcia expects to increase their
patient numbers by 6,000, bringing the total patients served at the wellness center to 18,000.
The Beaverton clinic is Virginia Garcia’s most racially and ethnically diverse clinic in their 17-clinic system. The
Beaverton patients represent more than 50 different languages.
Rafal Adnan has been a patient at the Beaverton Clinic since 2013, when she moved from Egypt with her
family.
“I love the environment,” she said of the Beaverton Wellness Center. “There is a greater diversity of patients at
Beaverton. That’s why it feels like home. That’s what America is about, having people from all ethnicities and
races. It’s there. You feel it. It’s alive.”
“We are so excited to see this new Beaverton Wellness Center become a reality for our patients and staff,”
said Serena Cruz, executive director, Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation. “The generosity of so many in our
community who came together to make this happen is amazing. This clinic is a true testament to the belief that
access to high quality, culturally-appropriate health care is something everyone deserves.”
The ribbon cutting is not open to the public; members of the media are welcome.
The event starts at 9 a.m. with the program and ribbon cutting at 9:40 a.m. Media representatives may tour the
clinic after the ribbon cutting. Address: 2725 SW Cedar Hills Blvd Ste 200, Beaverton 97005. Parking for the
event is limited. If you plan to attend, please contact the Public Relations Officer and she will provide you with
a parking map and further details on the event.
The community will have a chance to tour the new clinic during our CAREnival the following day from
12 pm-4 pm at the Beaverton Wellness Center. Providers will be on hand to offer free vaccinations, dental
sealants for kids 6-15 years of age or sports physicals for youth. The Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation will also be offering free hearing and vision screenings. Spots are limited for free services so early attendance is encouraged. Tualatin Hills Parks & Rec will be there with their RecMobile and Bouncy House to help entertain the kids and there will be plenty of local multicultural music and entertainment all day long for the whole family.
Lunch will be available from 12:30pm-2:30pm compliments of NW Natural and Resers Fine Foods.
