“After a thoughtful and extensive search process, we are pleased to share that Stefanny Caballero was selected as the next Executive Director of the Foundation. We are confident the Foundation will continue to thrive under her leadership,” said Lina Garcia Seabold, Chair of the Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation Board of Directors.
Stefanny Caballero has been with Virginia Garcia since 2016, serving first as the Corporate Partnerships Officer and later as the Development Officer, leading the organization’s individual and corporate fundraising efforts. She made significant contributions both individually and in partnership with her Individual and Corporate Development team. Under her leadership, the Development team saw a 40% expansion in individual donor support, 400% increase in corporate support, and the successful expansion of the organization’s sponsorship program. Stefanny also played a key role in the creation and implementation of the Patient Support Flex Fund, working with a long-time donor and champion and staff across all of our clinic sites. This program has become a critical element of Virginia Garcia’s response to COVID-19 and supporting our patients with needs outside the exam room.
“The past two years have been so critical for the communities Virginia Garcia serves,” says Stefanny. “As a former Virginia Garcia patient, immigrant, and BIPOC community member, I am honored and humbled to bring personal experiences to this role and boundless passion for our work. I am committed to being an ally and advocate for our patients, ensuring they have access to high quality health care that is also culturally appropriate.”
Stefanny brings with her more than 12 years of service working with non-profit organizations in the Portland metro region. Prior to joining Virginia Garcia, Stefanny was a corporate relations staff at United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and worked with key corporate partners and donors to run top workplace giving campaigns totaling $2 million. Stefanny holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Portland State University and brings a strong background in community relations and engagement, Corporate Social Responsibility, financial management, strategic planning, and development of strategies to better serve communities of color. She has more than seven years of experience serving in several local nonprofit boards and equity advisory councils, including as the Board Vice President for Bienestar, a culturally specific organization providing housing and services to farmworkers in Washington County.
Born and raised in Honduras, Central America, Stefanny moved to the United States at age 15 and has made the Pacific Northwest her home. Her own experiences as an uninsured teenager growing up in a new country, learning a ne language, and lacking a full understanding of the health care and educational systems created more barriers and challenges along her journey. These experiences led Stefanny to pursue a career in the social services sector, contributing to her life-long commitment to support the success of her community.
Stefanny lives in Cedar Mill and is the mother of twin daughters and a son. She is excited to step into this new role and collaborating with the community in supporting the important work being done at Virginia Garcia.
