Beaverton, Or. Monday, November 14th Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center and CE John Company hosted the groundbreaking for the new Beaverton Wellness Center. The celebration took place on the property at Southwest Jenkins Road and Cedar Hills Boulevard, directly across from the current Beaverton Clinic.
“At Virginia Garcia we are proud of the high quality primary care, dental, mental health and pharmacy care we deliver in our clinics. Our patients are amazing, hardworking folks trying to support their families, graduate from school and live healthy lives,” said Serena Cruz, Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation Executive Director.
Opened in 2004, the current Beaverton Clinic worked well when Virginia Garcia had 3,000 patients. Now, with nearly 12,000 patients, clinic employees have converted small storage rooms into exam rooms and providers hold meetings in hallways.
As a result, Virginia Garcia is planning to build out a 36,000-square-foot wellness center to replace the existing 12,000-square-foot clinic. The newly named Beaverton Wellness Center will be able to serve at least 6,000 additional medical patients and will house an array of integrated services, including primary care, dental, clinical pharmacy, behavioral health and health promotion services.
“Our expansion in Beaverton will make it possible for 6,000 more Beaverton residents to get access to this care in a thoughtful, kind and supportive environment,” Cruz said. “We’re so excited for our patients, their families and our staff to build new partnerships in this new wellness center.”
The Wellness Center will provide health services on the second floor of a newly constructed multi-use building that includes retail on the first floor as well as expansion of several other existing tenants.
“We realized from the beginning that our high profile location needed thoughtful development and accordingly we have designed a project with long-term vision and quality construction,” said Jeff Thompson, C.E. John Company President. “We are excited to commence construction on our long-awaited expansion of Cedar Hills Crossing – expanding our long-term relationship with Virginia Garcia into a 36,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical clinic.”
