Make a Hand-Sewn Masks for a VG Patient

Virginia Garcia wants to make sure all our patients have access to a mask.  We are hoping you can help.

Below are some guidelines to consider when making them, some helpful tips & tricks as well as instructions on how to donate once you are done.

It’s easy to donate handmade masks to Virginia Garcia

Locate the medical clinic nearest you and drop them off during clinic hours. There will be a greeter at the clinic
that will happily take the donation.

What to Consider When Making A Mask

If you are thinking of putting your skills to work and making masks for your family or a community organization, THANK YOU.

As you prepare to get started, here are a few tips you may need to keep in mind along the way that will ensure your masks are safe and ready for use.

  • Avoid making masks if you are sick or think you might be getting sick.
  • Avoid making masks if you have been told you have a multi-drug resistant organism like MRSA or C. diff., or if you have any open or draining wounds.
  • Keep all face mask materials away from household pets
  • Be sure the area in which you are working is clean (sanitize all surfaces with a disinfectant) before making masks.
  • Be sure to wash your hands well, or use alcohol based hand sanitizer, before touching mask materials.
  • If you are sharing the community masks you are making with others, masks should be washed before donated.
