One thing is certain, nobody will be able to miss Virginia Garcia’s new mobile clinic – the vivid colors guarantee that.

“It’s beautiful,” said Maria Loredo, chief operations officer, after a tour last week.

The mobile clinic will be delivered to Virginia Garcia the week of April 29.

The new mobile clinic has two medical/dental hybrid exam chairs with the latest dental and medical equipment, an autoclave for sterilizing equipment, specimen refrigerators, air conditioning and a reception area with comfortable seating. Patients will no longer have to wait outside in the hot sun for their appointment as they did with our previous mobile van. In addition, providers won’t have to take patients outside the van to hear their heartbeats with a stethoscope over the noise of the van generator. The generator in the new mobile clinic emits a low hum that doesn’t compete with stethoscopes.

The outreach team lost their 20-year-old much smaller mobile van in an accident last June. The fundraising was a community effort, with $365,000 new mobile clinic was financed entirely by grants and donations from individual and corporate donors.

The mobile clinic will see its first patients at migrant camps beginning in June.  In August, Virginia Garcia will be taking the new mobile clinic on the road in support of National Health Center Week. The week will kick off on August 6 at Beaverton City Hall with a community health fair celebration in the The Round.  The van will also visit McMinnville (August 7), Newberg (August 8) and Cornelius (August 9).
