b'Dental Steps Upfor MedicalAs COVID-19 began to spread in our community, Oregons governor suspended preventative dental procedures across the state, leaving the staff at Virginia Garcias six dental clinics with time on their hands. At the same time, our five medical clinics, school-based health centers and pharmacies were scrambling to meet the medical needs of our patients and respond to the demand for COVID-19 testing so when the dental clinic doors closed, a window opened and our dental staff stepped up.I knew our medical counterparts were going to be extremely busy during this time, said Dental Hygiene Manager Yadira Martinez.I wanted to support them in any way I could. Yadira led the charge as we opened our first drive-through COVID-19 screening location at Hillsboro Stadium. She knew her team wellthey were nearly all dental staff.Hillsboro Dental Clinic Manager Daniel Martinez was the next to step up, managing the drive-through screening site at the Yamhill County Fairgrounds, along with a team of mostly dental staff. But it didnt end there. Our pharmacies needed help delivering medications to patients waiting in our parking lots at our clinics. Once again, dental staff stepped in to provide this critical need, acting as greeters and runners for the very busy pharmacy staff. Our organization led the way locally and, in fact, provided leadership to other Federally Qualified Health Center dental clinics along the way. We are truly part of a bigger community helping each other, said Dental Team Process Improvements Project Manager Conchita Lovato. #JointheFight Make a difference today: providehigh-quality dental care for our patients.'
