Virginia Garcia invests in school-based health centers (SBHCs) in order to meet students where they are and provide health care in a safe, convenient setting. Another way students are active in their health and the health of their school community is through student health advisory councils (SHACs), comprised of interested high school students. Student With the return to in-person school,dedication there is renewed excitement for joiningto fostering SHAC teams. The Century High Schoolwellness and SHAC experienced remarkable growth, tripling its membership. At Beaverton Highcreating a School, our collaboration with Adelantepositive school Mujeres resulted in the establishment of anenvironment affirmation wall.has been truly SHAC students also organized an event centered around a paintinginspiring. activity designed to provide students with a means to unwind and de-stress. On Valentines Day, SHAC students distributed goody bags filled Yvet Gaspar Moraleswith treats and educational materials centered on promoting healthy relationships.I am immensely proud to witness the incredible growth of our students through these projects. Their dedication to fostering wellness and creating a positive school environment has been truly inspiring, said Yvet Gaspar Morales, SHAC Coordinator.
