Dr. Saurabh (Sam) Patel serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge at VG Hillsboro Pharmacy and has been with Virginia Garcia for more than 13 years. A graduate of the Oregon State University College of Pharmacy, class of 2012, he is dedicated to improving health outcomes through comprehensive medication management and collaborative care.
With a passion for mentoring, Dr. Patel has guided pharmacy residents and interns in both clinical and community settings, focusing on hands-on learning in patient counseling, medication therapy management, and prescription verification. He takes pride in fostering critical thinking and decision-making skills, and finds great fulfillment in watching future pharmacists grow into confident professionals.
Drawn to Virginia Garcia’s mission to serve diverse and underserved communities, Dr. Patel values the organization’s focus on equity, access, and collaboration. His clinical interests include chronic disease management—particularly diabetes and hypertension—as well as deprescribing strategies to promote patient safety. He works closely with interdisciplinary teams to support medication adherence through education and patient empowerment.
Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys travel hacking and exploring the world through strategic, savvy planning.
