Dr. Jacobs finds it deeply rewarding to work at Virginia Garcia, a place that perfectly aligns with her lifelong commitment to community-centered medicine. Originally inspired by her time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, she joined the team 27 years ago as a National Health Service Scholar. She is continuously motivated by the mission-driven staff and the opportunity to provide high-quality care to those facing barriers to health services.

She approaches patient care as a long-term partnership, much like a traditional neighborhood doctor who knows patients and their families over time. Dr. Jacobs views the body as a temple and emphasizes the power of nutrition in maintaining health. Her goal is to collaborate with her patients, meeting them where they are to help them achieve their personal health goals through connection, respect, and genuine care.

Outside of work, Dr. Jacobs finds balance by getting her hands in the dirt on her farm. She is a “jack of all trades” when it comes to agriculture, spending her time growing vegetables and flowers. Whether she is tending to her farm or working with ceramics, she thrives on the creativity and peace found in nature and family life.
