Important Update: Federal Executive Order on Childhood Immunization Schedules and Our Current Operations
You may have seen recent news coverage regarding the federal Executive Order issued on August 10, 2026, which proposes changes to federal childhood immunization recommendations, including adjustments to vaccine schedules and administration.
We want to reassure all staff that there are no changes to Virginia Garcia’s clinical operations, vaccine administration practices, or patient care workflows at this time.
Here is what you need to know:
- Standing Orders and Clinical Protocols Remain Unchanged: Our immunization practices continue to be governed by established clinical protocols and OHA standing orders signed by Dr. Byerly and our Site Medical Directors (SMDs).
- State Requirements and Standards: Virginia Garcia will continue following current Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidance, state immunization requirements, and established Vaccines for Children (VFC) program guidelines. Federal executive orders direct federal agency planning and recommendations, but they do not automatically alter state regulations or our approved clinical standing orders.
- Patient and Call Center Inquiries: If patients or community members call or ask about news surrounding the executive order, please reassure them that our clinic protocols remain fully unchanged. We continue to offer safe, evidence-based immunizations according to standard schedules endorsed by our clinical leadership and state health authorities.
We will continue monitoring state and federal updates closely and will communicate directly if any official guidance or regulatory changes occur in the future.
Thank you for your dedication to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients and community every day. And much gratitude to our amazing Vaccine Coordinators who manage our immunization program and vaccine supply with excellence.
Sincerely
The Quality Team
